National park Paklenica is heaven for mountaineers and climbers and visitors from all over the world are coming to conquer its peaks. Paklenica National Park, which covers the most attractive parts of the southern Velebit, concentrated in a mere 96 km2. Its most striking features are two forbidding gorges - Velika and Mala Paklenica.National Park Paklenica is easily reachable by Highway - motorway - A1- and located on the way from Middle European countries to the Adriatic coast and islands so combine visit to Paklenica Nationa park with the summer HOlidays on Adriatic coast. 
Educational and hiking trails are available On National Park Paklenica as well other recreational possibilities. For climbing and mountaineering there are special rules and tips in Paklenica National park - please read them before you go and be careful not to over-estimate their capabilities. Public institution Paklenica National Park ensures that the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service members are available at the climbing site on a daily basis during July and August, as well as during long weekends in other months (for Easter, Labour Day, Ascension Day, the Feast of Corpus Christi, Pentecost, Statehood Day of the Republic of Croatia and All Saints Day).The park abounds with peculiar karstic forms, caves and other natural features, while due to its climate conditions, lush variety of flora and fauna has been preserved. 

Paklenica is also beloved by the fans of popular movie saga Winnetou that was filmed in Croatia, in National Parks Paklenica, National Park Plitvička jezera and National Park Krka. Walk the paths on Winnetou in Croatia - some interesting tours are available - like photo safari in canon of Zrmanja - the most memorable landscape from the Winnetou movies.
