Orebic peninsula Peljesac
Town with more than 2500 inhabitants, on the south side of the Pelješac peninsula, turned towards Korčula, at the foot of the Sv.Ilija mountain(961m). Colorful town, birthplace of navala captains and sailors whose rich tradition is kept in the Orebic naval museum.

Maritime museum is located in the center of Orebić. It was founded in
1957. with a diverse historic material of that vital activity in local
scope. Archaeology department consists mainly of roman, pagan and early
christian artifacts from everyday life and fragments of artwork.
Further adding to the depiction of chronological sequence of cultures
that intensively built and shaped the more valuable community for human
existence, there are nice fragments of pre-romanic church furniture
from the times when Croats were baptized.
Showcase contain fragments of glass jars, wall paintings, bronze
artifects, buckles, byzantine amd medieval coins and other small
objects of church, household and fishermen's use found in the ruins on
island of Majsan from pre-history till 11th century. They belonged to
the pagan villa, early medieval monastery and church.
Museum also contains paintings of Pelje?ac's sailing ships shown on
vayages and in combat with pirates from 17th to the end of the 19th
century, ship's tools, weapons, atlas, nautical and school books,
health and travel papers, ship's pharmacy, medals and mariners
pictures, documents, reglations, crewlists, shares and Pelješac
maritime society's Rulebook about sailors insurance.
Also exhibited is ships's kit, balls made of ship's with which sailors
played, shipbuilder's carpenter tools from the short lived shipwright
founded in Orebić in 1875. It's neobaroque pillares can still be seen,
doorway along the road in the area known as Škvar. Documents about
activities of Pelješac maritime society, that lasted from 1855. to
1891. and perished when the more powerful steamboats appeared and
Orebić seafaring in general.

Ston
during your stay in Orebić, you can take field trip to Ston and Mali Ston, two picturesque towns, after Dubrovnik the most important and most fortified towns of Dubrovnik Republic. Powerful medieval walls of Ston that are still standning today, were built in 14th and 15th century and were protecting the estates and natural salt pans, the real treasure od the Republic.
Ston is a traditional center of shellfish farming, abundantly rich in fish, so that you can enjoy oysters, other shellfish and various fish specialities.
Visit to the donkey farm
For guests resting on the Pelješac riviera visit to the donkey farm owned byAntunović family in Kuna is organized, where the guests can, beside riding, try home made goat cheese, on return they can taste dingač and other wines in "Matuško" wine-cellar in Potomje and in Bartulović tavern in Prizdrina there is a food feast that awaits them. Guests also like to go to the fish picnic in Lovište.
Korčula
On th eother side of the Pelješac canal there is a forested island of Korčula. Illyrs inhabited the island and so did the Greek and the Romans. In medieval times Croats arrived. From 15th century and up untill it's fall at the end of the 18th century This strategic island was governed by the Republic of Venice.
Korčula should be certainly be visited because of it's centuries long historic and monumental ambient, graceful urbanistic arrangement and architecture, with works of Korčulan architecs and masons from 15th to 19th century. It's cultural and artistic heritage and the history of the island, from greek colonies dating from 4th century BCE, through the medieval times, when the Town statute from 1214. was voted, the oldest statute among the Dalmatian towns, the succesfull defence from the Turks in 1571. and all social and political events till today, are a testimony of our continious creative and persevering presence on the Adriatic.
Mljet
From excursions organized out of Orebić and other centers, excursions to Mljet island and it's National park are well visited (by hydrofoils and fasts boats).
Mljet island is the greenest island of of Dubrovanik islands, mentioned for the first time in times of Ilyric wars, and today it is a National park and a real treasury of cultural and historic monuments. On the isle of Sv. Mary in the Great lake a Benedictine monastery was built in 12th century, which has in modern times been rebuilt as an attractive hotel "Melita".
