Trogir is situated in the MIddle Dalmatia, on the eastern coastline of Adriatic sea, only 28 km from the another UNESCO World Heritage Site - Diocletian palace and medieval Split . The heart of Trogir is small islet laying between the hills on the mainland and the coast of the Island of Ciovo.
With 2300 years of tradition, the town was influence by old Greeks, Romans, Venetians and it is an excellent example of urban continuity. The orthogonal street plan of this island settlement originates from the Hellenic era. Its roman churches are supplemented with exceptional renaissance and baroque buildings. The most significant building is the Trogir Cathedral with its west portal, a masterpiece of Radovan and the most significant example of roman and gothic art in Croatia.Trogir with concentration of palaces, churches, towers, fortress is a must destination, easily combined with the visit od the Split and its palace.
